Simple steps to help grow your new Etsy shop

These are some of the most important steps when starting your Etsy shop. I use these steps in my own shops (gothampops, vintage gotham) and use them to help other Etsy sellers grow their own brands.

They are simple but important steps anyone can do.

  1. Shop Name: Choose a catchy and memorable shop name that reflects your brand. Pick a name you can use on all of your socials.

  2. Complete Your Profile: Seems simple enough, but so many sellers ignore this crucial step. Fill out your profile with a clear and friendly description of yourself and your shop. Add a profile picture that represents your brand well.

  3. Create Your Product Listings: Take high-quality photos of your products from multiple angles and write detailed descriptions that highlight their features and benefits. Be sure to use relevant keywords to help your listings appear in search results.

  4. Set Your Prices: Research similar products on Etsy and the web to get an idea of how much to charge for your items. Factor in the cost of materials, labor, and any other expenses to determine a fair price. One very important step sellers miss out on, look at SOLD listings. Anyone can set a price, but it's the customer and market that decide what it actually sells for.

  5. Choose Shipping Options: Decide how you will ship your products and set up shipping profiles accordingly. Consider offering free shipping or flat-rate shipping to attract customers. Weigh your items fully boxed and ready to ship. Getting the wrong weight and size will cost you time and money.

  6. Promote Your Shop: Use social media, email marketing, and other channels to promote your Etsy shop and drive traffic to your listings. Engage with potential customers by sharing behind-the-scenes content and special promotions.

  7. Provide Excellent Customer Service: Respond promptly to customer inquiries and address any issues or concerns they may have. Provide accurate information about shipping times and policies to set clear expectations. Include a thank you note with purchases.

  8. Optimize Your Listings: This is a step that needs to be a part of your routine. So way around it. That is part of the game of having a shop on Etsy. Continuously optimize your product listings by experimenting with different titles, tags, and descriptions to improve your search ranking and attract more customers.

  9. Monitor Your Shop Analytics: Keep track of your shop's performance by regularly checking your analytics dashboard. Pay attention to metrics like views, favorites, and sales to identify areas for improvement.

  10. Stay Engaged with the Etsy Community: Participate in Etsy forums, teams, and events to connect with other sellers and learn from their experiences. Building relationships within the Etsy community can help you grow your business and stay informed about industry trends.

Hope's this helps you with your journey into the world of Etsy. If you would like further assistance, I can personally help coach you and grow your shop.
